Abstract

Hypertension remains one of the leading non-communicable diseases and continues to be a major public health concern due to its increasing prevalence and its role as a primary risk factor for cardiovascular disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Preventing hypertension requires not only individual commitment but also active family involvement in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors. Family-based health education is considered an effective health promotion strategy to improve knowledge and awareness regarding hypertension prevention. This community service program aims to optimize the role of families in preventing hypertension through family-based health education in Mendagi Village, West Lombok Regency. The target participants are 50 family members who have hypertension risk factors or live with family members diagnosed with hypertension. The planned activities include health education sessions, interactive discussions, blood pressure measurement demonstrations, education on low-salt diets, physical activity, routine health check-ups, and distribution of educational leaflets. Program evaluation is designed using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure changes in participants' knowledge. The program is expected to improve family knowledge, awareness, and participation in implementing healthy lifestyles while strengthening the family's role as an important partner of health professionals in preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases within the community.
