Penguatan Karakter Peduli Lingkungan melalui Program Lomba Kebersihan Antar Kelas di SDN 4 Cakranegara

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen students’ environmental care character through the Interclass Cleanliness Competition program at SDN 4 Cakranegara. The program was motivated by the poor condition of the learning environment, such as accumulated waste, untidy classrooms, and students’ low awareness of maintaining school cleanliness. The implementation method used a participatory and habituation approach carried out through stages of socialization, competition implementation, mentoring, assessment, and appreciation for the best class. The activity involved all students from grades I to VI. The results showed changes in students’ attitudes and behavior toward maintaining the cleanliness of the school environment. Students became more active, disciplined, and responsible in maintaining the cleanliness of their respective classrooms. In addition, the classroom environment became cleaner, neater, and more comfortable, thereby supporting a more conducive learning process. This program also succeeded in fostering students’ cooperative character and social awareness through collaborative cleaning activities. Therefore, the Interclass Cleanliness Competition program can serve as an effective strategy for strengthening environmental care character education in elementary schools.
